The British Council is pleased to invite applications from English language teachers in the Western Balkans for a partial scholarship to attend the prestigious IATEFL 2026 International Conference. This scholarship supports educators from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia by covering key costs to facilitate their participation and professional growth.
IATEFL 2026 Conference Details
The 59th IATEFL International Conference and Exhibition will be held at the Brighton Centre, Brighton, England, UK, from April 21 to April 24, 2026. More details can be found at IATEFL International Conference 2026.
Scholarship Coverage
The partial scholarship includes:
- IATEFL 2026 conference attendance fee
- Airfare to and from the UK
- UK visa application costs and administration
- Accommodation and other personal expenses will be the responsibility of the scholarship recipients
Eligibility
- English language teachers or ELT professionals from the Western Balkans
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and contribution to the teaching community
- Currently active in English language teaching
- Ability and motivation to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the conference to benefit their local teaching context

- Personal statement describing your motivation for attending the IATEFL 2026 Conference and how this scholarship will support your professional development (max 300 words)
- Statement describing how you plan to apply the knowledge and skills gained at the conference to benefit your local teaching community (max 300 words)
- Letter of recommendation from employer or ELT organization
