The British Council is inviting English teachers to register for a half day workshop with Adrian Tennant, a world known English trainer, consultant and author, on Saturday 17th October 09-16h at the Gymnasium "Slobodan Skerovic".
Learning focused approaches, by Adrian Tennant, UK
Workshop 1: Engaging your students in learning - for primary schools teachers but all teachers are welcome
Workshop 2: Learner Autonomy and Fostering Learner Independence – for secondary school teachers but all teachers are welcome
About the Workshop
The workshop will explore different classroom approaches and techniques which put the learning process in the spotlight. What has the student learnt during the lesson? How do we measure it? How do we give feedback to students on their progress? Why assessment matters? These are some of the questions to be explored and practiced during the primary workshop.
The secondary workshop will look into techniques for encouraging independent learning both in the classroom and outside. Instead of doing the majority of work in the classroom and spoon feed the students with information, teachers will practice techniques which will help students develop autonomy, responsibility and control over their own learning and progress.
Please read the article “Tidy Teaching Messy Learning” by Adrian Tennant for more insight into how children learn.
