British Council Podgorica is looking for a qualified English language teacher to deliver individual lessons for a period of 6 to 8 weeks (December 2015-February 2016). Extension is also possible.

The service of teaching individual classes is offered to senior personnel from the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro, two lessons (90 minutes) twice a week, for three participants, in Podgorica.

Role overview

The Teacher undertakes to:

  • Conduct initial interviews with candidates in order to establish learning needs and to agree a lesson schedule;
  • Test candidates for language levels (oral and written) before the course, and conduct progress tests midway and at the end of course;
  • Prepare a syllabus tailored to each candidate;
  • Prepare adequate teaching and learning materials;
  • Deliver individual lessons at the agreed location (workplace);
  • Submit the schedules and the syllabi to the British Council prior to the course;
  • Report bi-weekly to the British Council on the candidates’ progress and other important details.

 Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. English Teaching Qualification (or an international TEFL qualification for  foreign applicants, minimum CELTA);
  2. Minimum three years of experience in teaching to adults;
  3. Minimum CEFR B2 level (advantage C1-C2);
  4. Experience in curriculum and syllabus development;
  5. Communication skills;
  6. Focus on result

 Applicants may be a legal entity or a private person with the right to work in Montenegro.
